About Elaine
Elaine Acree is a senior at Jacksonville State University majoring in Communication with a concentration in Digital Journalism. During her classes at JSU, she has gained many valuable skills in content creation, writing, social media, and multimedia design. She has written news articles and feature articles for The Chanticleer at JSU to not only enhance her writing skills, but to also serve the community of Jacksonville State University.
Elaine has discovered a passion for social media and content creation while in her COM courses at JSU and even in one of her English courses. She has worked alongside the English Department and the Disability Support Services at JSU to create various multimedia projects. Some of these projects were Instagram posts, flyers, and tutorial guides. She also had the opportunity to work with a local non-profit organization, Venecia’s Foundation, to update their brand. Elaine and her classmates helped Venecia’s Foundation create a style guide for their updated brand.
Outside of her courses at JSU, Elaine has been a member of the Marching Southerners Color Guard. She has served as a member of the flag line for four years and recently served as the Social Media Chair for the 2023-2024 season. In this role, she has managed the Instagram and Facebook pages for the color guard as well as creating organic content via Canva. These posts are a combination of graphics and photo posts with interactive captions. She has also created a Linktree to house important links for the color guard.
